On 24 Nov 1822, one year after Franz died, Agatha Dschle Gutgsell married John Baptist Gutgsell (n. 17? d. 30 Jan 1827). John Baptist was a brother of Franz Joseph.

Valentine Gutgsell (n. 10 Feb 1844 d. 21 Sept 1897) and Mary Buechler (n., d. 23 Aug 1881)
Valentine was born in house Nr. 79 Pfaffenweiler, Breisgau, Germany. Immigrated to America with family in 1848.
Valentine and Mary were married 21 Jan 1863. Fr. Fidelis O.S.B. performed the ceremony.
He and Mary were living near the Gutgsell homestead, just South of Maltersville, when he enlisted for the Civil War.
He was a farmer by occupation.
Service record: Valentine volunteered and enrolled on 06 February 1865 at Camp Vanderburg (old county Fair Grounds where current US Hi-Way 41 crosses Pigeon Creek) in Evansville, Indiana. He was mustered into the service of the United States at Indianapolis, Indiana, on 21 Feb 1865. He was 20 years old at the time of his enlistment, 5' 11" tall, had a dark complexion with dark hair and brown eyes. The 143rd Indiana Volunteer Infantry, Company E (made-up of mostly German-American decent), was organized at Indianapolis and left the state for Nashville, TN, on 24 February 1865. After duty at Nashville, it moved to Murfreesboro, TN where it served until 13 May 1865.
It was then attached to the 1st Brigade, 1st Sub-District, District of Middle Tennessee, Department of the Cumberland and moved to Tullahoma, TN, 13 May 1865, with duty there until 26 June 1865. It performed garrison duty at Nashville, Clarksville and Fort Donelson, TN, until October. Valentine was promoted to the rank of Corporal on 01 July 1865. He mustered out with the Regiment (MOWR) at Nashville, TN, on 17 October 1865. His Regiment returned to Indianapolis, where it was welcomed and thanked by Governor Oliver P. Morton. He was discharged at Indianapolis on ? 1865. The Regiment lost 1 Enlisted man killed and 92 Enlisted men by disease. Total of 93 men.
After the war, Valentine returned home to his wife and farming. They had seven children. His wife, Mary, died 23 Aug 1881.
