Home Made Biscuits
4 teaspoons baking powder
4 tablespoons shortening
3/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups sifted flour
Directions: Sift dry ingredients. Combine these and that shortening. Add milk and stir for 20 seconds. Turn on floured board and knead for 20 seconds. Roll 1/4 inch thick, cut and bake at 425 for 12-15 minutes.

mix it
4 cups corn flake
2 tea spoon baking powder
mix this
1 tea spoon vanilla
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped nuts

Angel Food Cake
1 1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 tea spoon cream tarter
1 pinch salt
white of 4 eggs
sift flour and sugar 4 times
First beat eggs with salt in it, when it is about ready to beat stiff, let say half done
then put in cream tarter
Then beat till you can turn platter up side down
do it quick and then put in sugar and flour
bake 35 to 50 minutes in a slow oven
Directions: don't move while baking
Notes: The notation of using a slow oven is an indication this cake was baked in a wood burning oven that did not have a thermostat.
