American Legacies Org, Inc. 2025 Annual Meeting

Sat, 08/23/2025 - 8:17am by Webman

American Legacies Org, Inc. 2025 Annual Meeting

This is a PUBLIC MEETING

Anyone interested in History, Helping Senior Citizens, Preserving Family Memories and Photographs or Genealogy, is welcome.
The American Legacies Org, Inc. 2025 Board of Directors Meeting will be held in Grandview, Indiana on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 6:00 pm at the Grandview Civic Center, 1301 North Main St., Grandview, Indiana 47615.

The following items will be discussed during this meeting.

  1. FREE Christmas Day Meal for Senior Citizens.

    1. Volunteers needed to prepare dishes in their home and/or at the Grandview Civic Center.

    2. Volunteers needed to serve the food to our guests.

    3. Volunteers needed to circulate among the crowd and “talk” with the individuals that show up, and record their memories, if possible.

      1. These comments and memories will be preserved for family members to enjoy in the future.

  2. Proposal for the Adopt A Grandparent Program.

  3. Provide Volunteers willing to spend at least one hour a week or month, simply to talk about life, family, memories, etc., with SENIORS that live alone

  4. Each visit should involve TWO volunteers.

    1. These visits should be purely social and friendly, but involve lots of conversation.

    2. The conversations should be recorded, if allowed by the senior citizen.

    3. If the adopted grandparent starts reminiscing about the past and this conversation is being recorded, please encourage them to verbally give you permission to share a copy of the recording and/or content with their family. This is especially important if they reveal information about their childhood memories, parents, grandparents or other relatives.

    • Family can be close family or even distant relatives they may have forgotten about or don’t even know.

  5. If the volunteers discover any special needs around the home, this should be reported to their supervisor, so a specialized team can be assigned to perform these duties.

  6. FREE Yard Care For Seniors, (depending on income and only in select areas.)

  • If we offer Free lawn care for seniors on a limited fixed income, we can reach out to professional lawn services around the country and ask them to DONATE x hours per month to help local seniors. In return we will promote those lawn services and and encourage families in the community to use their service and/or make donations to us, that can be used to pay services that will NOT donate their time.

  • We also need to help seniors and non-seniors that are victims of towns and county boards that set FINES against individuals, if/when their lawn is too tall, as a result of the property owner being in the hospital or a nursing home and does not have family members, neighbors or friends that will mow the yard for them.

  1. Minor repairs on outside of house such as cleaning windows, porch, etc.

  2. Minor repairs inside, such as changing light bulbs, cleaning ceiling fans, checking smoke detectors, changing furnace filters or leaky faucet, etc.
