We are dedicated to preserving the memories of family members and the historical lifestyles of the horse and buggy days. Our main objective is to publish and preserve the memories of people that traveled in covered wagons, horse and buggy, or Model T's, went to one room schools, used outhouses, lived through The Great Depression, World War II or any other era that is worth remembering and documenting for future generations.
We also preserve the cooking techniques that were used back in the days when grandma used a wood burning cookstove or a big black kettle hanging over an open fire. We also have a collection of Grandma's Old Family Recipes, and stories about other kitchen related memories.
Our Genealogy Corner is dedicated to helping family members locate distant cousins by sharing family tree information, posting requests for information on certain relatives, and offering suggestions and tips that will assist you in locating various branches of your tree.
Our photographs section offers a whole lot more value then simply letting other relatives check out family resemblance's. They can also be a source of valuable insight into clothing styles, vehicles, and buildings of the past. Plus the group photos taken at family gatherings, school, or church gatherings, might help others locate pictures of their own great-grandparents or great-great-grandparents.
Our Wartime Memories Section is dedicated to preserving the historical memories of the soldiers who helped to obtain and keep our freedom. Special attention given to the stories from and about the heroes who fought in World War Two. Our country is losing more than 1,000 WWII veterans a day and every time one passes away, one more piece of living history gets lost. Therefore, we are looking for volunteers to help us track down the surviving WWII veterans and record the true accounts of their actions during the war.
This is an area where people can share the emotional or physical stories that had a major impact on their lives. Whether a person served in the Military, had a loved one or family member that served in the military or simply had to change their lifestyle, because our country was at war, these stories are worth preserving. We also use this area to show off pictures of family members in uniform. This helps to honor our relatives that served in the Military, plus it helps others see the changes made in uniforms and patches over the years.
Also be sure to check out our message boards where you can post your questions and comments.
U.S. Legacies is run entirely by non-paid volunteers and our content is supplied by visitors like you.
