American Legacies Organization exists to preserve those stories FREE OF CHARGE for the individuals, families, churches, libraries, senior care facilities, and communities we serve.
There are many ways you can become part of this mission.
Become a Volunteer
Help preserve America's living history by volunteering your time and talents.
Volunteers can assist with:
- Oral history interviews
- Writing and editing personal histories
- Scanning and restoring photographs
- Genealogy research
- Website development
- Social media
- Historical research
- Photography and videography
- Community events
- Office support
Training is provided.
Partner With a Senior Care Facility
We invite nursing homes, assisted living communities, retirement centers, and other senior living facilities to partner with American Legacies Organization.
Together we can preserve the life stories, traditions, and memories of residents while creating permanent Legacy Libraries for future generations.
Churches Can Make a Difference
Churches have always played an important role in caring for older adults.
We encourage pastors, deacons, Sunday School classes, youth groups, and church members to become involved by:
- Visiting senior care facilities.
- Encouraging seniors to share their life stories.
- Assisting with oral history interviews.
- Helping preserve family photographs and documents.
- Participating in Christmas Memories programs.
- Introducing lonely seniors to caring friendships.
Adopt a Grandparent
Many senior citizens rarely receive visitors.
Imagine the difference one visit each month could make.
American Legacies Organization encourages individuals, families, churches, and community organizations to "Adopt a Grandparent" by developing meaningful friendships with seniors who would enjoy regular visits.
With the senior's permission, these visits may also provide opportunities to preserve their life stories through audio or video recordings, creating treasured keepsakes for their families and future generations.
Sometimes the greatest gift we can give is simply our time.

Help provide a FREE Christmas Day celebration for senior citizens while preserving their holiday memories for future generations.
