George W. Tremper

Tell City, Ind. – George W. Tremper, 87, of Tell City died there Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Perry County (ind.) Memorial Hospital. The Grandview, Ind., native retired in 1976 from Maxon Marine as personnel manager after 31 years, graduated from Grandview High School in 1932 and Lockyear Business College and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Bishop Chartrand Nights of Columbus Council 1172.

 

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Orris Shaw Tremper; two half brothers, Jack Billingsley and James Billingsley, both of Indianapolis; a half sister, Wilma Dean deLangland of Chicago; and several nephews and nieces.

 

Services are at 10A.m. EST Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial at Saint Marys Catholic Cemetery, Tell City, Indiana.

Mary Mills

Boonville, Ind. – Mary L. Foster Mills, 69, died at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 1993, at Warrick Hospital.

 

Surviving are three daughters, Connie Jean Held of Princeton, Deborah Lynn Redmond of Louisiana and Mary Ann Evans of Nashville, Tenn; a son, Steven Foster of Boonville; two sisters, Rhoda Dotson of Hendersonville, N.C., and Irene King of Phillipsburg, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

 

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 1993, at Bradley Colonial Chapel, with burial in Barnett Chapel Cemetery north of Boonville.

 

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Thursday, December 9, at the funeral home.

Rev Samuel Ohanian

Dale, Ind. – The Rev S. Samuel Ohanian, 79, died at 7:25 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 1993, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

 

He was a United Methodist Church minister until his retirement in 1979. He served churches in Indiana at Hatfield, Grandview, Shoals, Dale and Selvin.

 

He was a member of Gentryville Masonic Lodge, Evansville Valley of the Scottish Rite and Hadi Shrine.

 

Surviving are his wife, Mary L.; two daughters, Kathy Lou Higginbotham of Noblesville and Lucinda Schmitt of Jasper; two sons, Phillip of Huntingburg and Harry of Franklin, Texas; a sister Dorothy Ohanian of Whitinsville, Mass.; a brother, Harry of New Albany; and nine grandchildren.

 

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 1993, at Huntingburg United Methodist Church, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Nass & Sons Funeral Home.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Huntingburg United Methodist Church, the Faith Promise Mission or the Better Believe It Singers.

Llwewlyn Jeffrey

Grandview, Ind – Llewelyn Jeffery, 74, died at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 1992, at his home.

 

He was the founder and president of Fin, Fur and Feathers Game Club in Spencer County, was a former Spencer County Democratic chairman and county commissioner.

 

He was a member of Grandview Methodist Church, Grandview Masonic Lodge No. 191, and Scottish Rite, York Rite, Hadi Shrine Temple and Eagles Lodge No. 427, all of Evansville.

 

Surviving are his wife, Beatrice; three stepsons, Gary Farris of Tulsa, Okla., Douglas Farris of Evansville and Dennis Farris of Clearwater, Fla.; his father, Wallace Jeffrey of Pana, Ill.; two half brothers, Dan Jeffrey and Jack Jeffrey, both of Pana, Ill.; and a grandson, David Farris.

 

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Youngblood Funeral Home in Chrisney, with burial in Grandview Cemetery.

 

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where Masonic Lodge No. 191 will conduct services at 7 p.m.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Spencer County Hospice.

Alan Hall

Rockport, Ind., – Alan W. “Dubby” Hall, 75, died Friday, January 14, 2000, at the Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro, Ky., of cancer.

 

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Rockport Masonic Lodge, Hadi Shrine Band and National Farmers Organization.

 

Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Anne P.; two stepsons, Peter Twining of Boston and Ned Twining of Atla, Wyo.; a sister, Joan Shelton of Owensboro; and a nephew.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, with burial in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home.

 

Memorial contributions may be a favorite charity.

Wanda Watson, 80, Grandview

 

Wanda L. Watson, 80, Grandview, died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 1995 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.

 

She was a member of Mount Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Old Hebron Church, Henryville Eastern Star and Daughters of the American Revolution.

 

Surving are three daughters, Ida Wood of Indianapolis and Alberta “Bertie” Robertson and Merianna Dietrich both of Henryville; two sons, George Watson of Henryville and John Watson of Scottsburg; three brothers, Raymond Greathouse of Evanston, Ill., George Greathouse of New Carlisle and Albert Greathouse of Grandview; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

 

Services were Tuesday at R.D. Pyke Funeral Service in Henryville, with burial in Mount Zion Cemetery. An astern Star service was conducted Monday evening at the funeral home.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Lebanon Church in care of the funeral home.

Jean Beren

 

Grandview, Ind., – Jean Beren, 63, died at 7:04 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 1995, at Davis County Hospital in Owensboro, Ky., after an illness.

 

She was a member of the Rockport First United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.

 

Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Ralph; a daughter, Karen Beren of Grandview; two sons, Gary Beren of Grandview and James Beren of Westchester, Pa.; a brother Kenneth Roedel of Evansville; and two grandsons, Christian and Matthew Beren.

 

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, with burial in Grandview Cemetery.

 

Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m. Monday from 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesday at Boultinghouse Funeral House in Rockport, and from 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Steve Byers 36; Firefighter

 

Dale – Steve Byers, 36, died Friday, Non. 22, 2002, at his home.

 

He was born June 29, 1966 to Gary and Barbara (Schroeder) Byers in Huntingburg. He graduated from Heritage Hills High School in 1984.

 

He married Alice Merkley Oct. 23, 1999 at the Santa Claus United Methodist Church in Santa Claus.

 

He was a member of the Dale Jaycees, and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #444 and the Santa Claus United Methodist Church. He was also a firefighter with Carter Fire District in Carter Township. He worked with Cohen Bros. with AK Steel.

 

Surviving are his wife, Alice; two children, Steven II and Megan Byers at home; a sister Stacey Byers of Dale; his parents Gary and Barbara (Schroeder) Byers, maternal grandmother, Marjorie Schroeder of Lamar; and paternal grandmother Ella Mae Byers of Dale.

 

Services were 10 a.m. CST Monday at Dale United Methodist Church, with the Rev David Blystone officiating, with burial in Santa Claus United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation is 1 to 8 p.m. today at Fuller Funeral Home and Crematory.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Santa Claus United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society or the Carter Fire Department.
